(Taipei, May 12, 2023) HDEC, a subsidiary of Continental Holdings Corporation (stock code: 3703), held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Ciatou Water Resources Center in Kaohsiung City today, officially inaugurating the Ciatou Reclaimed Water Plant BTO Project. The construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025. Upon completion, the center’s daily wastewater treatment capacity will increase from 20,000 tons to 50,000 tons. The newly established reclaimed water plant will supply 30,000 tons of recycled water daily to TSMC Fab in Kaohsiung Nanzih Technology Industrial Park, substantially alleviating water usage pressure in the Greater Kaohsiung area and reducing the water supply demands on nearby reservoirs.
“In an era where extreme weather has become the norm and water resources are scarce, HDEC provides professional water treatment and reuse services to address water scarcity challenges. Ciatou Water Resources Center is expected to commence operations from 2026 and will enhance water supply flexibility in southern Taiwan,” said HDEC CEO Jerry Chou.
This is the third water reclamation plant planned by the Kaohsiung City Government in response to the growing water shortage crisis in southern Taiwan and as part of its initiatives to attract investments from high-tech industries. Upon its completion by the end of 2025, the Ciatou Reclaimed Water Plant, together with the Fengshan and Linhai water resources centers, will collectively supply 108,000 tons of reclaimed water daily for industrial use.
