(Taipei, December 1, 2023) HDEC, a subsidiary of Continental Holdings Corporation (Stock Code: 3703), is glad to announce that two of its projects – the Kaohsiung Linhai Wastewater Treatment Plant and Reclaimed Water BTO Project and the New Taipei Danshui Sewerage System BOT Project – received awards at the 21st Golden Thumb Awards, which celebrate outstanding public-private partnership achievements.

This not only indicates our service quality and operating efficiency have been recognized, but also symbolizes the partnership between HDEC and government agencies,” said HDEC CEO Jerry Chou. “HDEC will continue to use its water treatment expertise to actively support local governments’ efforts to improve sewage treatment and diversify water resource development, thereby contributing to a sustainable Taiwan,” said Chou.
The Kaohsiung Linhai Water Resources Center is Taiwan’s first reclaimed water project that will build sewage and reclaimed water treatment plants at the same time. Phase 1 of the project has been in operation since 2022. With a daily sewage processing capacity of 55,000 tons, the center supplies 33,000 tons of recycled water to the Linhai Industrial Zone.
The project was awarded for reducing energy consumption, saving resources, and optimizing operations through processing efficiency. An emergency response plan was also established to improve service stability. Furthermore, the quality of the recycled water is better than regulated standards, and wastewater recycling efficiency improved as well.
The New Taipei Danshui Water Resources Center has been operational since 2008, with Phase 3 plant expansion completed in 2022. It processes 56,000 tons of sewage per day, the equivalent of 28 swimming pools. The Danshui Water Resources Center uses the latest sewage technology to produce discharge water that exceeds standards, ensuring safety and less pollution from urban sewage. Currently, a 52.7 km sewer network is in place, connecting 56,763 households, surpassing the original target, speeding up sewerage penetration,and providing a better living environment.
