HDEC, a subsidiary of Continental Holdings Corporation (Stock Code: 3703), held an opening ceremony for the Environmental Education Center at the Anping Reclaimed Water Plant Project on July 16th.
In the four-year period since the contract was signed in 2020, the project has seen the completion of the reclaimed water plant, a 24-kilometer internal and external water transmission and distribution pipeline network, advanced reclaimed water treatment facilities, a distribution pool, and the Environmental Education Center. The design concept of the center is inspired by “water” and conveys the importance of water conservation. This is also the first educational venue with the theme of water conservation in Tainan City.
HDEC CEO Jerry Chou said, “With the Center, the Anping Reclaimed Water Plant is no longer just a plant but an educational venue. Cooperation between the government and the private sector allows environmental education to be more realistically presented to the public with great effectiveness.”
Chou added, “The first floor of the Center has an audio-visual room for presentations and areas for storytelling and DIY activities. The outdoor space on the second floor and the rooftop plaza provide local residents with a venue for leisure activities, turning the reclaimed water plant into a people-friendly leisure environment.”
The Center has a curved exterior wall that echoes the park on the north side and the mangrove wetland corridor next to it, integrating the environment and ecology into the architectural design. Inside, the Center has a dedicated environmental education area and interactive facilities, allowing the public to better understand sewage treatment and the water reclamation process.
HDEC currently has five water resources centers with environmental education facilities: Tamsui Water Resources Recycling Center, Puding Water Resources Recycling Center, Kaohsiung Fengshan Water Resources Center, Kaohsiung Linhai Water Resources Center, and Anping Reclaimed Water Plant. Besides sewage treatment capabilities throughout Taiwan, HDEC actively creates educational environments reflecting the core value of water treatment.
