Tainan Anping Reclaimed Water Plant officially opens, ensuring stable water supply for high-tech industries in Tainan

(Taipei, March 23, 2023) HDEC, a subsidiary of Continental Holdings Corporation (stock code: 3703) and the turnkey contractor responsible for the construction of Tainan Anping Reclaimed Water Plant, held an inaugural ceremony today for the commencement of phase I operation of the plant. At this phase, the plant will supply 10,000 tons of reclaimed water daily to the Southern Taiwan Science Park, contributing to the stability of water resources for Tainan’s high-tech industries and mitigating the risk of domestic water shortages.

“This project has achieved its first-phase water supply target, with full operation scheduled for completion in 2024. At that point, the daily supply of reclaimed water for industrial use will increase to 37,500 tons ,” said HDEC CEO Jerry Chou. He added, “Because of extreme weather, many places in Taiwan have experienced water shortages from time to time. Municipal governments have recognized water reclamation as a viable strategy to balance water supplies for industrial and domestic uses. With our extensive experiences in reclaimed water planning, HDEC is an ideal partner for local governments in advancing reclaimed water projects.

The project includes the construction of Anping Reclaimed Water Plant, an environmental education center, water pipelines and advanced treatment facilities, etc. Reclaimed water will undergo a two-stage RO treatment to ensure water quality meets the standards required for high-tech advanced processes. An energy recycling mechanism will be in place to promote sustainable development and energy conservation as well as carbon emissions reduction. The buildings are integrated with the surrounding mangrove conservation area to support water sustainability. In addition, the environmental education center will serve as a new recreational destination for the public.

HDEC, a subsidiary of Continental Holdings Corporation, specializes in environmental project development and water treatment. It currently has eight water-related projects on hand, four of which are related to water reclamation, including Kaohsiung Fengshan River Wastewater Reclamation and Reuse BTO Project, Kaohsiung Linhai Wastewater Treatment Plant and Reclaimed Water BTO Project, and Kaohsiung Ciaotou Wastewater Reclamation Plant BTO Project.
