(Taipei, September 19, 2023) Continental Holdings Corporation (Stock Code: 3703) subsidiary, HDEC Corporation, held a groundbreaking ceremony today for the Tainan Chengxi New Waste Incineration Plant Build, Operate, and Transfer (BOT) project.
Once operational, this project will not only process up to 290,000 tons of waste annually, but will also become a power plant providing a renewal energy with efficiency exceeding 25%. This will alleviate waste processing pressure in Tainan, and increase the supply of electricity for the public.
“With society’s increasing environmental awareness, the conversion of waste into resources has become a crucial issue. This project marks our foray into the field of renewable energy as the new waste incinerator introduces the latest Japanese technology to significantly improve conversion efficiency. Additionally, it meets the strictest emission standards and promotes environmental sustainability, energy conservation, and carbon reduction, ultimately achieving the goal of ‘turning waste into energy,'” said HDEC CEO Jerry Chou.
This new waste incineration plant BOT project has a total investment of NT$7.215 billion, a franchise period of 25 years (construction period of 3 years, operational period of 22 years). The incinerator is scheduled to commence operations in 2026.
