At present, the water consumption of industries and people’s livelihood in Tainan is about 970,000 tons per day. Recently, due to the active development of the industry and the rapid economic growth, new industrial parks (industrial parks) have been developed successively, such as the expansion of Nanke Phase III, Tainan Green Energy Industrial Park, and the Qigu and Madou Industrial Zone…etc. drive the development of surrounding areas, the immigration and retention of population, the economic growth of communities and the rise of surrounding related industries, the demand for water for industries and people’s livelihood is bound to increase. In recent years, due to the impact of drought, the water storage capacity of Tainan reservoir has been low. The government has adopted night-time decompression water supply and some water restrictions to maintain basic livelihood needs and industrial water use.
Since the “Tainan City Anping Reclaimed Water Plant New Construction Project” adopts a turnkey DBO (design-build-operate) approach, the construction stage has now entered the construction stage. In addition to the new reclaimed water plant, the project is also carried out in Tainan Science Park. In this project, build a water distribution pool for the park to allocate water. The water transmission and distribution pipeline starts from the reclaimed water plant of the Anping Water Resources Center, and passes through Anping District, Annan District, Central and Western District and the new urban area to enter the Nanke Park, with a total length of about 24 kilometers. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed in October 2022, with a daily supply of 10,000 tons of reclaimed water. The full phase will be completed in November 2024, once this project is totally completed, it can operate with a daily supply of 37,500 tons of reclaimed water to stabilize the water source for high-tech industries and promote industrial development.
